In many applications, free surface flow through rigid porous media has to be modeled. Examples refer to coastal engineering applications as well as geotechnical or biomedical applications. Albeit the frequent applications, slight inconsistencies in the formulation of the governing equations can be found in the literature. The main goal of this paper is to identify these differences and provide a quantitative assessment of different approaches. Following a review of the different formulations, simulation results obtained from three alternative formulations are compared with experimental and numerical data. Results obtained by 2D and 3D test cases indicate that the predictive differences returned by the different formulations remain small for most applications, in particular for small... |

In this paper, we shall assume that the ambient manifold is a pseudo-Riemannian space form Nm+1t(c)
of dimension m+1 and index t (m≥2 and 1≤t≤m). We shall study hypersurfaces Mmt′ which are polyharmonic of order r (briefly, r-harmonic), where r≥3 and either t′=t or t′=t−1. Let A denote the shape operator of Mmt′. Under the assumptions that Mmt′ is CMC and TrA2 is a constant, we shall obtain the general condition which determines that Mmt′ is r-harmonic. |
The Declare process modeling language has been established within the research community for modeling so-called flexible processes. Declare follows the declarative modeling paradigm and therefore guarantees flexible process execution. For several reasons, declarative process models turned out to be hard to read and comprehend. Thus, it is also hard to decide whether two process models are equal with respect to their semantic meaning, whether one model is completely contained in another one or how far two models overlap. In this paper, we follow an automaton-based approach by transforming Declare process models into finite state automatons and applying automata theory for solving this issue. |
The issue of sustainability and specifically sustainable business is of increasing interest and importance to students of business and also students in the sciences, government, public policy, planning and other fields. There can be significant benefits from students learning about sustainable business from the rich experiences of business practice. |
The domestic substitution of the IC (the Integrated Circuit) industry improves economic efficiency and is significant in ensuring national security, which has gradually become an essential strategy for countries worldwide. Based on the background of domestic substitution of integrated circuits, we select a typical component Micro Controller Unit) as the research object, construct a three-level supply chain game model under different scenarios in a dynamic architecture, and analyze the game problem of collaborative innovation of the MCU supply chain. We fully consider the impact of factors such as time, cost and the innovation and collaborative innovation efforts of various supply chain members on the level of domestic substitution. |
This paper aims to analyze the efficiency of the funds in technological, healthcare, and consumer cyclical sectors based on the U.S. News & World Report rankings. We employed a Principal Component Analysis to select the indicators to explain efficiency. Then, we have used an alternative approach that combines Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) with Multiple Criteria Decision Aiding, the Value-Based DEA, to assess the efficiency of funds for 1 year (2020), 3 years (2018–2020), and 5 years (2016–2020). The results highlight that in 2020 the number of efficient funds is much smaller than in previous periods and this can be justified by the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic crisis. |
One of the most recent topics in smart cities is community engagement which has been generally deliberated in both industrial and academic literature around the approaches and tools employed in urban environment. Accordingly, the purpose of this study is to advocate for community engagement as a key driver that supports the acquisition of knowledge and requirements needed for innovation and creativity towards achieving an equitable community for social sustainability. A semi-systematic review method is adopted to analyze 71 sources from Web of Science and Scopus databases. Secondary data from the literature is extracted and synthesized to provide narrative and descriptive analysis. |

In this work, by the introduction of some parameters, a new half-discrete kernel function in the whole plane is defined, which involves both the homogeneous and the nonhomogeneous cases. By employing some techniques of real analysis, especially the method of a weight function, a new half-discrete Hilbert-type inequality with the new kernel function, as well as its equivalent Hardy-type inequalities are established. Moreover, it is proved that the constant factors of the newly obtained inequalities are the best possible. Finally, assigning special values to the parameters, some new half-discrete Hilbert-type inequalities with special kernels are presented at the end of the paper. |
