Hypersensitivity pneumonitis (HP) is an immunologically induced inflammation of the lung parenchyma that occurs in susceptible individuals in response to a variety of antigens. Repeated exposures to the causative antigens lead to chronic HP. The condition could be complicated with pulmonary hypertension (PH). |
Children with community-acquired septic shock can rapidly deteriorate and die in acute-care hospitals. This study aimed to describe the mortality, timing, and risk factors in children with community-acquired septic shock. |
Electroencephalography (EEG) is recommended for the practical approach to the diagnosis and prognosis of encephalitis. We aimed to investigate the prognostic value of standard EEG (stdEEG) in adult patients with severe herpes simplex encephalitis. |
Heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) can coexist with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), which complicates the clinical situation and worsens quality of life. The study used standard diagnostic criteria for detecting COPD in hospitalized HFrEF patients and to survey the influence of other comorbidities and medications on the long-term outcomes of HFrEF + COPD patients. |
In clinical settings, pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) patients were often found to have pulmonary fungal coinfection. This study aimed to assess the clinical characteristics of patients suffering from coinfection with TB and pulmonary fungal and construct a predictive model for evaluating the probability of pulmonary fungal coinfection in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis. |
Cuprotosis is a novel and unique form of cell death that is of great value in a variety of cancers. However, the prognostic role of cuprotosis-related genes (CRGs) in lung cancer remains undetermined. We compared the expression profile of CRGs in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) patients, revealing the genetic alterations and inter-gene correlations of CRGs. Based on 13 CRGs, LUAD patients could be well differentiated into two molecular subgroups, and the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in these molecular subtypes were identified. Furthermore, 10 cuprotosis pattern-related DEGs with a significant prognostic value were obtained for constructing a prognostic model. |
Although reticulocalbin 3 (Rcn3) has a critical role in alveolar epithelial function as well as in pathogenesis of pulmonary fibrosis, no study has yet examined its diagnostic and prognostic values for interstitial lung disease (ILD). This study aimed to evaluate Rcn3 as a potential marker in differential diagnosis of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) and connective tissue disease-associated interstitial lung disease (CTD-ILD) and in reflecting the severity of disease. |
To investigate the possible influence of prolonged ketamine (K) or esketamine (ESK) infusion on the profile of liver cholestatic biomarkers in patients with COVID-19 infection. |
Most patients with a clinically suspected scaphoid fracture and normal initial radiograph are unnecessarily treated. Previously developed prediction rules using demographic and clinical risk are unable to accurately predict occult fractures. Adding other risk factors could enhance this. Therefore, we aim to explore if there are morphological risk factors of the wrist for sustaining a scaphoid fracture. |
Acute exacerbation (AE) of interstitial lung disease (ILD) (AE-ILD) is a life-threatening condition and the leading cause of 30-day mortality among patients who underwent pulmonary resection for lung cancer in Japan. This study was conducted to clarify the characteristics of the immune environment of lung tissues before the onset of AE-ILD. |
