    This graduation paper aims to study the difficulties in improving pronunciation of first-year English majors at Phenikaa University. The purpose of the research is to clarify the factors first-year students face in practising pronunciation and the difficulties in improving pronunciation. The research results show the importance of English pronunciation and suggest effective methods to help students improve their pronunciation, thereby improving their ability to communicate in English more confidently and accurately.

    After completing 9-12 years of English education in schools in Vietnam, individuals often face challenges in communication and vocabulary upon entering a new university setting, that is mainly due to the traditional teaching methods, which often rely on learning vocabulary or grammar, can make learning English more challenging for students because they can feel bored. This study focuses on the impact of English movies on enhancing vocabulary skills among 131 first-year English majors at Phenikka University, utilizing quantitative research methods.     The study was conducted to discover common mistakes in the speaking performance of first-year English major students at Phenikaa University. Data was collected through students’ recordings and questionnaires. The results show the common mistakes students make and the causes that lead to the mistakes. In summary, there are two types of common mistakes that students make, which are related to grammar and pronunciation. The study also explores several causes of common mistakes in English speaking performance, including inappropriate pronunciation, lack of vocabulary, grammar, practice, preparation, weak listening ability, and lack of motivation for communicating in English.

    The main purpose of the research is to find out the difficulties in learning English Reading skills of first-year English majors at Phenikaa University. The tool used for collection data in the research is a questionnaire. The questionnaire was designed for first-year English majors and specifically, 120 students at the Phenikaa University participated in the survey. The results show that learners encounter many difficulties in learning Reading skills, divided into 5 main categories: unknown words, text coverage, background knowledge, organization structure, grammar, others (motivation, timing, strategies, materials). In addition, the study has suggested some strategies to help students overcome the difficulties and improve their Reading skills.

    The main goal of this research is to pinpoint and examine mistakes made by fourth year students majoring in English at Phenikaa University. The study adopts a mixed methods approach blending qualitative techniques such, as analyzing student written works and conducting interviews. The findings of the research indicate that students frequently mistakes in grammar (for instance misusing pronouns and verb tenses) vocabulary (like utilizing words for the given context) sentence structure (including sentences lacking subjects or predicates) and overall expression (such as a lack of coherence between sentences and paragraphs).     This present research aims to find out the extent to which the dictation method enhances listening comprehension among third year English majors of Phenikaa University. With an evaluation method that has been scaled up, the study’s objectives will try to establish the effects that dictation exercises have on the comprehension of spoken English among students.
