The study was conducted to discover common mistakes in the speaking performance of first-year English major students at Phenikaa University. Data was collected through students’ recordings and questionnaires. The results show the common mistakes students make and the causes that lead to the mistakes. In summary, there are two types of common mistakes that students make, which are related to grammar and pronunciation. The study also explores several causes of common mistakes in English speaking performance, including inappropriate pronunciation, lack of vocabulary, grammar, practice, preparation, weak listening ability, and lack of motivation for communicating in English. |
This graduation paper aims to study the difficulties in improving pronunciation of first-year English majors at Phenikaa University. The purpose of the research is to clarify the factors first-year students face in practising pronunciation and the difficulties in improving pronunciation. The research results show the importance of English pronunciation and suggest effective methods to help students improve their pronunciation, thereby improving their ability to communicate in English more confidently and accurately. |
