A Study on Negation in English Songs by Taylor Swift with Reference to Vietnamese Equivalents

Abstract

This study aims to identify the syntactic and semantic features of negation in English and relate them with Vietnamese equivalents, which are extracted from songs by Taylor Swift. The importance of this topic in language learning is to help students understand more about the structure and meaning of language and how linguistic elements are used to convey emotion and meaning. By studying how negation is used in music, students can improve their language skills and gain a deeper understanding of the culture and linguistic mindset of communities. In addition, the application of knowledge gained from this research can support language teaching and learning, as well as translation and literary composition.
