This study describes the willingness of receiving the COVID-19 booster doses for adults and their children 12–17 years old, and its related factors in Vietnam. A cross-sectional study was conducted through a national online survey from November 17 to November 24, 2021 using Google Form. Study respondents were Vietnamese citizens who were ≥18 years old and currently living in Vietnam. A total of 900 complete responses were analyzed and of those 93.77% were willingness to receive the booster dose. Participants with a university degree or higher were 8.16 times higher in willingness than those with primary school (p = .017). Those who received the first or the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine were 5.85 (p = .001) and 5.65 (p < 0.001) times higher in willingness to receive booster do...

This paper introduces the LQR control algorithm for the active suspension system. Because the model of the vehicle dynamics used in this paper includes a hydraulic actuator, therefore, this model will include five state variables. Besides, the process of linearization of the hydraulic actuator is also shown in this paper. This is a completely novel and original method. It is possible to describe almost all the characteristics of hydraulic actuators with just one linear differential equation. Also, the parameters of the LQR controller are optimized through the in-loop optimization algorithm. The results of the research showed that the values of displacement and acceleration of the sprung mass were significantly reduced when this algorithm was used. In the investigation cases, these v...

End-to-end learning systems are conceived for Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM)-aided optical Intensity Modulation paired with Direct Detection (IM/DD) communications relying on the Autoencoder (AE) architecture in deep learning. We first propose an AE-aided Layered ACO-OFDM (LACO-OFDM) scheme, termed as LACONet, for exploiting the increased bandwidth efficiency of LACO-OFDM. LACONet employs a Neural Network (NN) at the transmitter for bit-to-symbol mapping, and another NN at the receiver for recovering the data bits, which together form an AE and can be trained in an end-to-end manner for simultaneously minimizing both the BER and PAPR. Moreover, the detection architecture of LACONet is drastically simplified compared to classical LACO-OFDM, since the Fast Fourier T...

We study the impact of economic policy uncertainty on the probability and duration of economic recessions in 10 major European Union countries over the period 1987Q2–2021Q1. We find that economic policy uncertainty results in not only a higher probability of economic recessions but also longer recessions. Specifically, with a one-standard-deviation increase in the economic policy uncertainty index, on average the probability of an economic recession goes up by 14%, and the probability of an economic recession ending reduces by 27%, controlling for general economic uncertainty and economic and political factors. Moreover, we find that fiscal expansion, adequate political support, and left-wing governments’ policies are important to alleviate the effects of policy uncertainty on the l...

In this work, we investigated the effect of morphology on the analytical performance of α-Fe2O3 nanostructures-based electrochemical sensors toward chloramphenicol (CAP) antibiotic using three designed morphologies including α-Fe2O3 nano-tube (α-Fe2O3-T), α-Fe2O3 nano-rice (α-Fe2O3-R), and α-Fe2O3 nano-plate (α-Fe2O3-P). Among these morphologies, α-Fe2O3-T displayed an outstanding electrochemical activity owing to the unique hollow structure and large specific surface area. However, due to the small pores size, α-Fe2O3-T showed the high steric hindrance (SD) effect towards an antibiotic with complex molecular structure, as CAP, leading to a significant decrease of their CAP electrochemical sensing performance. The CAP analytical performance of α-Fe2O3-R was highest in investigated m...

This paper introduces a new database of financial crises, providing an important insight into the causes, duration, and consequences of different types of financial crises. Besides extending the systemic banking crises database by Laeven and Valencia (2020) to the period 1970–2019, we develop new approaches for the identification of currency and sovereign debt crises, which we regard as preferable in some respects to those in the literature. Covering 206 countries, our crises database draws on 151 systemic banking crises (1970–2019), 414 currency crises (1950–2019), 200 sovereign debt crises (1960–2019), 75 twin crises (1970–2019), and 21 triple crises (1970–2019). We provide evidence that banking and debt crises tend to coincide or precede currency crises, while debt crises and ban...

Magnoliae Flos is a traditional herbal medicine used to treat nasal congestion associated with headache, empyema, and allergic rhinitis. In our preliminary screening of crude drugs used in Japanese Kampo formulas for melanin synthesis, the methanol extract of Magnoliae Flos was found to exhibit strong melanin synthesis activity. However, there have been no studies evaluating the effects of Magnoliae Flos or its constituents on melanogenesis. The present study aimed to isolate the active compounds from Magnoliae Flos that activate melanin synthesis in melanoma cells and three-dimensional human skin equivalent, and to investigate the molecular mechanism underlying melanin induction. The methanol extract of Magnoliae Flos induced an increase of melanin content in both B16-F1 and HMV-II...

The process parameters of such process should be optimized to improve the quality measures. In the present study, Taguchi- DEAR based multi criteria decision making has been proposed to obtain optimal combination process parameters on machining die steel in PMEDM process. From the experimental investigations, the optimal process parameters combination has been found was found as SKD11 (workpiece), Gr (Electrode), positive (polarity) and 20 µs (pulse on time), 8A (current), 57 µs (pulse off time) and 20 g/l (Powder concentration) among the chosen parameters in the machining process.

In this paper, we address dynamic network selection problems of mobile users in an Intelligent Reflecting Surface (IRS)-enabled wireless network. In particular, the users dynamically select different Service Providers (SPs) and network services over time. The network services are composed of adjustable resources of IRS and transmit power. To formulate the SP and network service selection, we adopt an evolutionary game in which the users are able to adapt their network selections depending on the utilities that they achieve. For this, the replicator dynamics is used to model the service selection adaptation of the users. To allow the users to take their past service experiences into account their decisions, we further adopt an enhanced version of the evolutionary game, namely fractio...

This paper is concerned with the existence and regularity of minimizers to an optimal control problem governed by semilinear elliptic equations, in which mixed pointwise control-state constraints are considered in a quite general form and the controls act simultaneously in the domain and on the boundary. The - and -type regularization is considered for both distributed and boundary controls. Under standing assumptions, the minimizers and the corresponding multipliers do exist. Furthermore, by applying the bootstrapping technique and using some calculation tools for functions in Sobolev spaces of fractional order, the optimal solutions are shown to be Lipschitz continuous when the -type regularization is applied and they are proven to be Hölder continuous with the exponent if only -...
