This paper introduces the LQR control algorithm for the active suspension system. Because the model of the vehicle dynamics used in this paper includes a hydraulic actuator, therefore, this model will include five state variables. Besides, the process of linearization of the hydraulic actuator is also shown in this paper. This is a completely novel and original method. It is possible to describe almost all the characteristics of hydraulic actuators with just one linear differential equation. Also, the parameters of the LQR controller are optimized through the in-loop optimization algorithm. The results of the research showed that the values of displacement and acceleration of the spru... |
Geometrically nonlinear behavior of functionally graded (FG) beam and frame structures under mechanical loading is studied in this paper using the finite element method. The structures are made of a mixture of ceramic and metal with material properties varying in the thickness direction by a power distribution law. Based on the first-order shear deformation theory, a nonlinear beam element is derived and used in conjunction with Newton-Raphson method to compute deflected curves of the beams. Numerical investigations are carried out in detail to highlight the influence of the material distribution on the nonlinear behavior of the beams. |
Functionally graded materials (FGMs) are increasingly used in sandwich construction to improve mechanical performance of structures. The effective material properties used in modelling FGM structures, however, are dependent on a chosen homogenization scheme. For the first time, the influence of different homogenization schemes on large deflections of dual-phase FGM sandwich beams is studied in this paper by using a nonlinear finite element procedure. |
The Automobiles are vehicles widely used to transport passengers and goods around the world. When traveling on the road, many factors affect the oscillation of the automobile. In particular, the stimuli from the road surface are the direct causes of its instability. The automobile’s suspension system has the role of regulating and extinguishing these oscillations quickly. To improve the efficiency, stability, and comfort of the vehicle, the active suspension system is proposed. This study establishes the quarter dynamics model to describe the vehicle’s oscillation |
