dc.description.abstractThis project focuses on the design, simulation, and evaluation of the braking system for the 2018 Toyota RAV4, a mid-size SUV. The primary goal is to enhance the braking efficiency, thermal performance, and structural integrity of the brake disc while maintaining cost-effectiveness and braking efficiency. The study investigates the effect of various brake disc configurations, materials, and geometrical optimizations using simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS). It also includes a comparison between four brake disc design alternatives-drilled, vented, slotted, and combined (drilled + vented)—along with a comprehensive structural, thermal, and cost analysis. Key deliverables include: • Heat dissipation performance improvements • Material comparison (e.g., Grey Cast Iron vs. AISI 5140) • Braking configuration comparison.vi
